The hair brick tin had served it purpose, six hair-bricks were made, and there could ever only be six. So I decided the tin had to be smelted down and made into something arty.
I put a shout out on Facebook, to see if anyone had a forge to smelt the tin, and to my surprise my friend Caroline Jones, messaged to say her brother Thomas Hugh Jones, had one locally.
So off we went on a cold January morning to fire up the forge! In an amazing morning we smelted down the tin into several random shaped pieces, I decided I could make something out of almost all of the bits.
To top it off Thomas showed me how to make a poker, and I got a go at hammering the hot metal into shape. All in all we had a great day, followed by a barbecue of sausage and bacon on the fire!
